20 January 2001: FAMILIES
OF 1972 AND 1973 DUBLIN BOMBINGS UNITE On Saturday last, January 20, the 28th anniversary of the 1973 Dublin bombing, the families of the victim of that atrocity and of the victims of the December 1, 1972 bombings, met with Justice for the Forgotten, the campaign seeking truth and justice for the victims of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings of May 17, 1974. The families travelled from Mayo, Tipperary and Stirling, Scotland. A motion was put to the meeting welcoming the families as members of the Justice for the Forgotten campaign, pledging the availability of its services and support to them and affirming its advocacy of the right to truth as to the facts, circumstances and causes of the Dublin bombings of December 1972 and of January 1973. The motion was passed unanimously. After the meeting, with the co-operation of Clerys, a simple wreath-laying ceremony took place inside the shop at Sackville Place, to mark the 28th anniversary of 21-year old busman, Tommy Douglas, a native of Stirling, Scotland. As well as families of the 1974 victims, the ceremony was also attended by Mr. Brian Duffy, Inspector, Dublin Bus, and two of his colleagues.
